UC RUS AL ALSCON Donates N2.2m Relief Materials To Ikot Abasi

UC RUSAL ALSCON has donated relief materials worth $20,000 (N2.2 Million) to more than 2,000 people affected by Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo crisis to help them recover from the recent local community conflict and get their lives back to normal. The company presented to Akwa Ibom State government the materials including medical aid and food, as well as emergency supplies to help those displaced. At the presentation ceremony, Acting Managing Director UC RUSAL ALSCON, Mr. Andrey Terentyev said: "As a responsible citizen the company is committed to supporting the well being, peace and prosperity of its neighbours - the people of Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo and other communities adjacent to the plant. We sincerely hope that the materials we have donated today will help to address the immediate needs of the people and overcome the enormous social and economic impact of the situation on the people who have been rendered homeless and forced to resettle in other communities." In his speech, the Deputy Governor and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Emergency Management Committee, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu, said the government was impressed with the company's support for the victims of the Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo conflict. He urged other companies in the state to emulate the exemplary gesture of UC RUSAL ALSCON. He assured the management of the company that the materials would be efficiently distributed to the people of the affected communities. The Chairman of Ikot Abasi local government area, Dr. John Ekot and his counterpart in Eastern Obolo , Mr. Francis Uduyok who witnessed the presentation also commended the company for its initiative.
