Alcoa announced today that a new four-year contract covering 5,400 employees at 10 Company locations in the United States has been ratified by members of the United Steelworkers （USW）.
"This new agreement is a good outcome for our employees, shareholders, customers and communities. We believe that this was a successful negotiations process, with contributions by both sides, and we are pleased that our employees ratified the contract," said Mick Wallis, president of Alcoa North American Rolled Products and chair of the Company's Employee Relations Council.
"Now that we have a new long-term agreement, we can focus our energy and efforts on meeting the challenges of our businesses and working together to build a better future for these plants."
The new agreement was approved after voting yesterday.
The previous contract expired May 31. Alcoa and the USW reached a tentative agreement after two weeks of bargaining in May.
