Aluminum Association announces board leadership changes

The Aluminum Association announced its newly elected Board members during the Association’s Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois. New members joining the Board of Directors include Mr Matthew Dionne, Mr Bill Emberson, Mr Garney B Scott III, Mr William G Toler and Mr David Youngblood.


Mr Steve Demetriou chairman and CEO of Aleris International Inc and chairman of Aluminum Association said that “We are fortunate to bring the experience of these executives to the Aluminum Association Board of Directors. We have a challenging year ahead of us and having these individuals will make a significant difference to our working agenda.”


Mr Matthew Dionne is president of Extrusion North America of Hydro. Mr Dionne has overall responsibility for Hydro’s general extrusion activities in North America comprised of eight operating locations in the US and Mexico. Previously, Mr Dionne was VP and GM of Extrusion North America’s Southeast Region. He came to Hydro from Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution where he last held the position of director of operations.


Mr Bill Emberson is manager of Business Development of RMT Inc. RMT is a full service Environmental Consulting, Engineering and Construction Firm. Mr Emberson’s responsibilities include, strategy and implementation around market and regulatory drivers account development, customer service, client retention and sales forecast execution. He has more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience providing goods and services for global manufacturing industries.


Mr Garney Scott III is president of Scepter Inc with headquarters and a plant in Waverly, Tennessee and other plants in Indiana, New York and Quebec. Scepter Inc is a secondary aluminum processor of scrap and dross through its proprietary rotary furnace technology. Mr Scott has been with Scepter for 16 years holding jobs ranging from financial to commercial to VP of Operations. He has a broad background, having experience at Eastman Kodak, Exxon and Andersen Consulting.


Mr William Toler is president and CEO of Smelter Service Corporation. Smelter Service Corporation is an aluminum recycler established in 1978 and located in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Prior to joining Smelter Service Corporation, Mr Toler worked at Commonwealth Aluminum for 22 years in various financial and management roles and most recently was VP of Materials.


Mr David Youngblood is president & COO of Basic Resources Inc. Basic Resources Inc has grown into a leading manufacturer and supplier of fluxing chemicals and foundry consumables to the nonferrous recycling and casting industry. Before joining Basic Resources, Youngblood served as the CFO for ARC Automotive a leading manufacturer of airbag inflators. During his time with ARC Automotive, Youngblood received his Six Sigma certification and participated in plant startups in both Mexico and China.


These new members will join the reelected board members which includes Mr John Barneson of Kaiser Aluminum; Mr Eugenio Clariond of Cuprum, Mr Wayne Hale of Century Aluminum Company, Mr John Lapides of United Aluminum and Mr Lisa Jane Scheller of Silberline Manufacturing Company.
