Alcoa believes in American manufacturing and was proud to host President Barack Obama at our Davenport Factory. His visit showcased why we are bullish on U.S. manufacturing, exemplified by our 2,200 Davenport employees who create and produce the innovative materials that support Alcoa's global aerospace business.

As President Obama pointed out, we are in a "renaissance of American manufacturing." Our future requires an investment in emerging technologies that will create manufacturing jobs across the country, ultimately enhancing our global competitiveness. This is why Alcoa applauds and is joining the President's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP). The AMP joins universities, businesses and the federal government to focus on creating jobs and increasing investment in U.S. manufacturing by establishing priorities, policies and incentives that stimulate dual-use technology development and investment in science and technology.

Investing in innovation has been Alcoa's driving philosophy in Davenport and across the company. Over the last 10 years, Alcoa has invested heavily across our U.S. facilities, including $200 million in Davenport and hundreds of millions in our aluminum R&D center in Pennsylvania. Through our market sector teams based in Cleveland, Ohio, we work closely with our customers to align our investments with their strategic direction and deliver industry-leading solutions. Our employees have helped continually update and reinvent Davenport so that we drive cutting-edge production and offer the most innovative products such as aluminum lithium alloy - allowing Davenport to supply the U.S. market and compete globally, exporting to countries like Brazil, Korea and China.

With continued investment and innovation, Alcoa Davenport will continue its 60-year tradition as a backbone of the community. Through the President's AMP program, companies around the country will be able to recreate this model of success and enable the U.S. manufacturing sector to sustain and create jobs by innovating and strengthening its competitiveness across industries.
