Aluminum giant Novelis Inc. said it plans a $50 million expansion at a plant in Brazil.
The Atlanta-based company, the world's largest producer of rolled aluminum products, said it will install a coating line for beverage can sheet at its plant in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, as part of an ongoing program to expand its production in Brazil and South America. The facility is in the midst of a $300 million expansion of its rolling mill and a $32 million expansion of its aluminum recycling capacity.
The new line is expected to begin operating in late 2013 and will be able to process 100,000 metric tons of aluminum sheet a year.
