The Aluminium Association of Canada announced that primary aluminum production in Canada declined 19,946 r tonnes in August to an annual rate of 3,021,823 metric tons, a decrease of seven-tenths of one percent from the July rate of 3,041,769 metric tons. Compared to a year ago, the annual rate of production was also off seven-tenths of one percent from the August 2005 annual rate of 3,042,616 metric tons. Actual production in August totaled 256,648 metric tons and 2,026,051 metric tons through eight months. Year-to-date, primary production is up 7.6 percent over the same period of last year.
