Alcan (TSX:AL) has signed a long-term deal to supply aluminum plate products to light jet manufacturer Eclipse Aviation.
Financial details of the deal with Eclipse, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have not been disclosed.
The aluminum will be supplied to Eclipse by Alcan's rolling mills in Ravenswood, W.Va., and Issoire, France. Both facilities supply aluminum plate products for the aerospace, aeronautical and transportation industries.
"This agreement demonstrates Alcan's commitment to a long-term relationship with Eclipse Aviation, the manufacturer of the Eclipse 500 very light jet," said Christel Bories, CEO of Alcan's engineered products division.
"Thanks to its strong presence in the U.S. and in Europe, Alcan is well-positioned to support the Eclipse global supply chain with local support. This agreement is also important to Alcan as it represents a significant milestone in expanding our strong and diversified aerospace customer base into this promising and expanding very light jet aircraft segment," Bories said.
Alcan has 68,000 employees, including its joint ventures, in 61 countries and regions.
