NEW YORK, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Alcan Global Aerospace, Transportation and Industry increased some alloy prices by 2 cents per lb, the company told its North American customers in a letter earlier this week. It said the 2 cent conversion price increase applies to common alloy sheet and coil products, and will be applied to new orders entered on or after Aug. 12. Specifically, the price increase applies to all 1XXX, 3XXX, and 5XXX alloys and to 6061 O and F temper coil and sheet products, the group said. The latest price rise is separate from a 2 cent-per-lb increase announced to customers on July 28 as a premium that will continue to apply to all sales with short lead times. Existing orders and agreements confirmed before Aug. 12 will still be honored, said the letter which was signed by the group's sales director. Alcan Global Aerospace, Transportation and Industry is the aerospace arm of Rio Tinto Plc's Alcan aluminum unit. The group supplies lightweight aluminium products to plane manufacturers such as Boeing and EADS unit Airbus.
