China's decision to scrap 5% import duty on aluminum was expected by industry participants; may not lead to more imports immediately, as domestic product currently cheaper than imports; may be only a gesture to show government encourages imports of resource-intensive metal, analysts say. Imposition of 15% export duty on aluminum rod, bar comes only a month after government canceled value-added tax rebates; "may only affect 20,000-30,000 tons of exports of products," says analyst in Guangdong province.
