Aluminium futures rise on global trend, short-covering

New Delhi, Sep 3 Aluminium futures prices traded a shade higher on the Multi Commodity Exchange today as traders preferred to cover-up their short positions, driven by firming trend in metal in overseas market. Aluminium for delivery in September contract traded 0.28 per cent higher at Rs 90.15 per kg with an open interest in 114 lots while, aluminium for delivery in October contract inched up by 0.22 per cent to Rs 91 per kg in an open interest in one lot. Market analysts said apart from short-covering, better trend in aluminium prices in global markets also attributed to rise in its prices in futures trading here. Meanwhile, aluminum prices rose 0.33 per cent to USD 1,852 per tonne at the LME in yesterday&aposs trade, while moving up by 0.41 per cent to 14,840 yuan per tonne at Shanghai in morning trade today.
