BRUSSELS - The European Commission said the deadline for its inquiry into Indian metals company Hindalco Industries' proposed 6 bln usd acquisition of Canadian aluminium company Novelis Inc is set for May 8.
The two companies expect to finalize the deal in the second quarter.
After the deal is closed, Hindalco will become the world's largest downstream aluminium business, and be among the five largest integrated players in the sector.
