NALCO net declines 28.22% in Jun`07 qtr

National Aluminium Company reported a 28.22% decline in net profit to Rs 4,466.6 million for the quarter ended June 2007 from Rs 6,223 million for the quarter ended June 2006. Net sales for the quarter declined 21.56% to Rs 11,652.3 million from Rs 14,855.2 million in the same quarter, a year ago. Total income declined 12.74% to Rs 12,962.3 million in the quarter from Rs 14,855.2 million in the corresponding quarter, last year. The earning per share of the company for the June 2007 quarter reduced 28.26% to Rs 6.93 from Rs 9.66 last year. Incorporated in 1981 as a national PSU, National Aluminium Co. (Nalco) is Asia`s largest integrated aluminium complex, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
