Nalco to Call Bids Tomorrow to Sell 300,000 Tons of Alumina

Sept. 24 -- National Aluminium Co., India's largest alumina producer, will call bids tomorrow to sell as much as 300,000 metric tons of the aluminum-making material. The company will invite bids in November to sell a similar quantity through a long-term contract, Chairman C.R. Pradhan said. Buyers have until Oct. 10 to bids for tomorrow's contract. National Aluminium on Aug. 23 sold 30,000 metric tons for immediate delivery to a Singapore-based trader at $332 a ton. Alumina traded at $340 a ton on Sept. 21 in the European Union, according to Metal Bulletin. National Aluminium exports 64 percent of its 1.6 million metric tons a year production at prices linked to those on the London Metal Exchange.
