India's state-run National Aluminium Co. plans to set up a 500,000 metric-ton-a-year smelter in South Africa, the Hindu Business Line newspaper reported. Preliminary discussions were held earlier this week between the Indian minister for Mines, and the South African head of the Mining and Steel Ministry, the report said, citing a release from the mining ministry. The Indian minister also wants to cooperate with the Mine Qualification Authority of South Africa for Indian companies to get access to the latest mining technologies.
