India Apr-Mar Aluminum Output 1.35 Mln Tons

NEW DELHI, Apr 21, 2009 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- India's state-run and private companies produced 1.35 million metric tons of aluminum in the April-March period, up from 1.24 million tons a year earlier, data from the country's ministry of mines showed Tuesday. The country also produced 640,665 tons of copper during the period, down from 704,966 tons a year earlier; 582,164 tons of zinc, up from 458,227 tons; 60,323 tons of lead, up from 58,247 tons; and 7.3 tons of gold, down from 11.9 tons, the data showed. -By Arpan Mukherjee, Dow Jones Newswires; 91 11 4356 3310; arpan.mukherjee@dowjones.com
