MUMBAI, Jun 30, 2009 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- NAUDF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Aluminum companies could improve their profitability if prices stabilize in the range of $1,600-$1,800 per metric ton, C.R. Pradhan, chairman of India's state-run National Aluminium Co. Ltd. (532234.BY) said Tuesday. "Although prices are improving they are not stable right now," Pradhan said on television channel NDTV Profit. At 0750 GMT, the three-month aluminum contract on the London Metal Exchange was being quoted at $1,652/ton, up $13 from Monday's afternoon kerb. Pradhan said demand is improving in the domestic market, while global demand is also picking up. Nalco produces a quarter of India's total aluminum output. -By Swansy Afonso, Dow Jones Newswires; 91-22-61456-106; swansy.afonso@dowjones.com
