Aluminum production unaffected at Vedanta Korba plant

Dow Jones quoted Bharat Aluminium Company a unit of Vedanta Resources PLC as saying that aluminum production from its smelters in the central Indian town of Korba hasn't been affected by an accident near the plant on September 23rd 2009 night. A Vedanta spokesman said that "Activities at the particular site have been temporarily suspended while existing operations remain unaffected." At least 20 people were killed when a chimney caved in September 23rd 2009 at a thermal power plant being constructed by Bharat Aluminium at Korba. The Korba plant has 2 aluminum smelters with a total capacity of 345,000 tonnes per year. (Sourced from Dow Jones)
