Metal Bulletin reported that the premium for importing aluminum in Japan for the second quarter is generally set at CIF $83-$85 per ton, based on the spot price of LME, while significantly higher than the CIF $65-$66 per ton in the first quarter. Some traders stated that in view of the current market situation, they have no choice but to accept it. The Japanese market is in a weak demand, such as rolling and extrusion in aluminum processing sector, while other Asian countries in a powerful demand. And the decreasing aluminum output leads Korea and Taiwan are in a rush for supply from western countries, where aluminum premium is not affected by the Japanese demand.
