Japan's Feb Secondary Aluminum Shipments at 94,563 mt

Singapore, April 01-Japan's secondary aluminum alloy shipments in February were up 1.3% to 94,563 mt on year, the Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association said Tuesday. Data showed that year-on-year growth of shipments has continued for 33 months on the back of strong demand from automotive components manufacturers. Shipments to diecasters fell 1.1% on year to 51,445 mt, which was covered by a 8.7% increase in shipments to molders to 26,335 mt. Shipments to other sectors mostly declined, although those to sheetmakers were up 3.2% to 6,312 mt. But shipments to extruders were down 4.9% to 5,407 mt, to steelmakers down 0.7% to 2,265 mt and to alloy ingot makers, down 2.9% to 2,799 mt.
