Adaro, Ayala, BHP, Nanya, Shenhua: Asia Ex-Japan Equity Preview

Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes in Asia trading, excluding Japan. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are from the previous close, unless noted otherwise.
Ayala Land Inc. (ALI PM): The largest Philippine builder said its second-quarter profit fell 11 percent to 964 million pesos while sales decreased 2.5 percent to 6.98 billion pesos. The stock rose 1.1 percent to 9.50 pesos. Ayala Corp. (AC PM), which owns the company, fell 3.2 percent to 300 pesos.
BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP AU): The world’s biggest mining company said full operations restarted at the Hay Pt. coal terminal in Australia. The stock fell 2 percent to A$38.
Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd. (CMS MK): The Malaysian builder said it agreed to extend a deadline to Sept. 30 to complete an agreement with Rio Tinto Group on the proposed design, construction and operation of an aluminum smelter in the eastern Sarawak state. A preliminary agreement was signed in August 2007. Cahya rose 1.2 percent to 1.68 ringgit.
China Shenhua Energy Co. (1088 HK): The nation’s largest coal producer said first-half profit rose 13 percent from a year earlier to 15.98 billion yuan ($2.34 billion), based on preliminary data. The stock decreased 2.3 percent to HK$32.05.
Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI PM): The fourth-largest Philippine builder said in a filing it was pre-qualified to join in the selection of a joint venture partner to develop the 62-hectare property of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, a filing to the stock exchange showed. The stock fell 1.1 percent to 94 centavos.
Lee Kee Holdings Ltd. (637 HK): The Hong Kong-based zinc alloy and metals producer said first-half profit may have “substantially” increased from a year earlier on cost control and inventory management measures. The stock sank 4.4 percent to 88 Hong Kong cents.
Nanya Technology Corp. (2408 TT): Taiwan’s biggest computer-memory chipmaker posted its smallest loss in seven quarters after production cuts helped boost prices. The second- quarter net loss narrowed to NT$6.55 billion ($200 million) from NT$7.3 billion a year earlier, the Taoyuan-based company said. The stock fell 4.8 percent to NT$5.77 on August 6. Taiwan was shut for trading yesterday.
Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. (5346 TT): The Taiwanese maker of computer memory chips will scrap unpaid leaves starting Aug. 21 on improving demand for its products. The stock fell 5.2 percent to NT$3.28 on August 6. Taiwan was shut for trading yesterday.
PT Adaro Energy (ADRO IJ): Indonesia’s second-biggest coal producer is considering acquiring BHP Billiton’s Indonesian coal mine. Adaro is studying “several projects,” including BHP’s mine as part of its growth strategy, Adaro said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchange. Adaro slipped 0.7 percent to 1,450 rupiah.
REA Group Ltd. (REA AU): The Australian provider of online real estate services and News International Ltd. completed the share sale of their jointly owned online business in England to Zoopla Ltd., a filing to Australia’s stock exchange showed. The stock gained 0.5 percent to A$5.71.
