In November, 109,100 tons of aluminum products were shipped by US. service centers, a decrease of 9.7% from the same month in 2011. For 2012, year to date aluminum shipments were approximately 1.4 million tons, an increase of 0.3% from the same period in 2011.
Inventories of aluminum products were 365,300 tons at the end of November 2012, an increase of 1.6% over November a year ago and a decrease of 1.7% from last month. At the current shipping rate, this represents 3.3 months of supply in inventory, an increase of 12.5% from a year ago.
Canadian Service Center Activity
In November, 13,100 tons of aluminum products were shipped by Canadian service centers, a decrease of 0.9% from the same month in 2011. For 2012, year to date aluminum shipments were 148,500 tons, an increase of 8.6%from the same period in 2011.
Inventories of aluminum products were 39,300 tons at the end of November 2012, an increase of 11.3% from November a year ago and a decrease of 0.7% from last month. At the current shipping rate, this represents 3.0 months of supply in inventory, an increase of 12.3% from a year ago.
