UC Rusal to Inject $50m into Cast-house Expansion

United Company Rusal will inject $50 million into the expansion of cast-house in Irkutsk aluminum smelter, said the world’s largest primary aluminum and alumina producer. Production at the smelter rose 170,000 tons as compared with the year-earlier period, the two new potrooms have been put into production in February this year, and the proposed cast-house is expected on track by the end of this year. The project will be mainly undertaken by SibVAMI, Rusal’s engineering and construction unit.
