UAE: Emal completes world’s longest potline

Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) has installed the final steel structure for the potline of its Phase II expansion and has completed all the major civil and mechanical work on what will be the longest single potline in the world.

“ 'Made in the UAE, but recognised around the world’ is something we are very proud of at EMAL," said Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, president and CEO of Emal. "Working together with Emirates Steel is the epitome of the skill and unity that exists within our nation. It is this togetherness which will provide a strong economic future for the country and our people," he added.

Al Mazrooei was joined on the potline by Saeed Ghumran Al Romaithi, CEO of Emirates Steel, and Yousuf Bastaki, EMAL's vice president - projects.

Al Romaithi said that Emirates Steel was very honoured to have contributed to Emal's Phase ll expansion. "The steel structures we have provided were specifically designed for EMAL to meet their exact needs," he said.

Emal's Yousuf Bastaki said, "To deliver the sub-structure for the new potline ahead of schedule and without a single LTI is testament to the skill and commitment of everyone involved in delivering this major industrial project, which will help provide a sustainable economic well into the future.”
