What looked like residual warranting activity at Singapore after Monday's bigger inflow boosted the rate of arrivals Tuesday and helped the headline figure edge a little higher. With much of the previous couple of weeks' downtrend negated it is now close to the 2007 high of 812,275t recorded on Mar 28.
Arrival rates will determine whether it exceeds that level since draw rates are currently subdued and can be expected to remain so until cancellations pick up.
Another day of low cancellation activity kept the overall ratio of cancelled tonnage in the system static at a low 2.2%. In tonnage terms, yesterday's action was worth only a net 25t addition to the cancelled tonnage total, which continues to hover just above the low point of the year-to-date.
