BHP Billiton: electricity shortage makes affect its smelter’s production

BHP Billiton said yesterday because of electricity shortage, South Africa three smelters long-term operation is hard Eskom required last month that South Africa mine companies reduce electricity consumption volume to assist resolve electricity shortage. BHP is the sixth primary aluminum producer; they are considering how fatherly develop these three smelters and negotiate with South Africa Eskom to solve this problem. BHP said: “we have researched several probably ways to reduce electricity consume in this following several years, in order to ensure continue and safe production.”
