The Aluminum Association’s Building and Construction Committee is taking the benefits of sustainable building on the road. The Association will exhibit at the 2009 Green Build International Conference and Expo in Phoenix, Arizona next week.
Mr Chuck Johnson director of Environment, Health & Safety said that “Aluminum is an ideal product for the building and construction industry because it is truly a sustainable material. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable and offers unique energy efficiency and design characteristics that make it a smart choice for high performance buildings.”
Aluminum building products are made from alloys that are weather proof, corrosion resistant and immune to the harmful effects of UV rays. Aluminum’s lightness allows architects to design light structures with more stability and the means to meet required performance specifications, while minimizing expenditure on foundations. Mr Johnson will be available at booth 2860 to provide more information about aluminum and sustainable building design.
GreenBuild will feature 1,800 exhibit booths displaying the latest products and services and a first ever Green Building Job Fair. The 3 day event also includes more than 100 educational sessions. In addition, former Vice President Mr Al Gore is this year’s keynote speaker. In addition to his political achievements, Gore has written 2 bestselling books, Earth in the Balance, An Inconvenient Truth and the recently released Our Choice.
The B&C Committee, which is sponsoring this year’s booth, continues to aid sustainability messaging through end of life recycling rates and use phase environmental benefits of aluminum in building and construction applications.
The Aluminum Association based in Arlington, Virginia, works globally to aggressively promote aluminum as the most sustainable and recyclable automotive, packaging and construction material in today’s market. The Association represents US and foreign based primary producers of aluminum, aluminum recyclers and producers of fabricated products, as well as industry suppliers. Member companies operate more than 200 plants in the US with many conducting business worldwide.
