The general situation of nonferrous metals industry in China in the first half year of 2013

1. Output increased steadily

January to June, the output of ten kinds of nonferrous metals totaled 19.47 million tons, increased by 10%, in which the output of copper, aluminum, lead, zinc totaled 3.23 million tons, 10.58 million tons, 2.27 million tons, and 2.57 million tons respectively, increased by 12.8%, 8%, 12.4%, 9.1%.

2. Profit decreased

January to May, the main business income of 8431 nonferrous metals enterprises above the stipulated scale totaled 1800.3 billion RMB, increased by 16.6%. The profit totaled 48.6 billion RMB, decreased by 7.3% year-on-year, and the profit rate was 2.7%.

3. The investment growth decreased

January to June, the nonferrous metals industry completed investment volume totaled 284.6 billion RMB, increased by 19.3% year-on-year, but the growth rate decreased by 3.3%. The investment in the processing programs increased by 44.5%, and in the smelting programs decreased by 8.5%.

4. The prices decreased

In June, the average price of copper, aluminum, lead, zinc in the domestic market were 51600 RMB, 14700 RMB, 13900 RMB, 14800 RMB per ton respectively, decreased by 6%, 9%, 10%, and 3%.

5. The import and export amount decreased

January to June, the import income of major nonferrous metals totaled 48.9 billion dollars, decreased by 8.7% year-on-year. The export volume totaled 13.9 billion dollars, decreased by 3.8% year-on-year. The import amount of smelting products of copper, aluminum and lead decreased.
