Ukraine to boost alumina, aluminum exports, ministry says

Ukraine intends to increase its presence on the export markets for nonferrous metals as well as meeting domestic demand, according to a base metals development strategy unveiled by the country's Industrial Policy Ministry. According to a state program to develop the mining and metals sector to 2011, capacity to produce alumina at the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant will be increased to 1.6 million tons per year.
