The Orissa Government on Wednesday concluded an additional MoU with Vedanta Alumina Ltd for construction of an aluminium smelter plant of 2.5 lakh tonnes per annum and a captive power plant of 675 MW in Jharsuguda district with an aggregate investment of Rs 8400 crore.
The Orissa Governemnt had signed a MoU with Sterlite Industries Ltd on June 7, 2003 to set up a 1 million tonne alumina refinery at Lanjigarh along with a 100MW power plant. Vedanta Alumina Ltd is a subsidiary of Sterlite Industries Ltd.
