Nalco plans to invest $3b to explore aluminum smelter project

Jakarta, Jan. 14— Nalco is investigating the aluminum ingot project in south Sumatra, which invest $3m. Nalco financial director BL Bagra and vice Province Governor Somatra—Mahyuddin NS said MOU on last Friday. Bagra said they must do feasibility research work on this project. It said EMAL will involve in upstream aluminum products. Anshari said the smelter’s annual aluminum ingot output will be 250,000 ton/year. To support this move, Nalco may set up a coal-fired power plant that 1,000 hectare on construct public facilities and equipment and staff accommodation. This project may cost $3b.
