Bombay, April 28—India’s national aluminum company Nalco is planning to lift its annual alumina output to 2.28 million tons by 2010, said a senior from the company. Nalco estimates its alumina output at 2.1 million tons ended December this year. The company is also projecting to lift bauxite capacity to 6.83 million tons, up 0.53 million or 8.4% from the current capacity, said financial officer B.L. Bagra. Additional alumina production will mainly be shipped to Chinese mainland, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. “Alumina exporting volume will reach 1.2 million tons in 2010, and alumina production from expansion will be mainly for exporting.” Bagra said. Nalco is estimated having exported 800,000 tons of alumina in the previous fiscal year ended March 31. COPYRIGHT All rights reserved.
