SINGAPORE--Japan's February inventories of aluminum mill products fell 4.6% on month to 77,327 metric tons, according to preliminary data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Friday.
On year, inventories of aluminum mill products were down 8.4%, the data showed.
Japan's output of aluminum mill products rose 5.9% on month to 187,805 tons, and was up 0.4% from a year ago.
Shipments were higher as well at 147,036 tons, up 8.8% on month and up 1.8% on year.
On Friday, the London Metals Exchange three-month aluminum futures contract was trading at $2,784/ton, up $4 from the London Thursday afternoon kerb. It was 1% higher from its Feb. 28 close at $2,815/ton.
