Brazil June primary aluminum output down 9.3 pct

SAO PAULO, June 20 (Reuters) - Brazil's primary aluminum output fell 9.3 percent in June to 126,100 tonnes, compared with the 139,100 tonnes produced in the same month last year, the Brazilian Aluminum Association (ABAL) said on Monday. Production in the first half of this year reached 770,000 tonnes, a drop of 6.2 percent compared with the same period of 2008, ABAL said. Its most recent estimate for 2009 forecast a 7.3 percent drop in output to 1.54 million tonnes. Data showed the largest cuts in production came from plants owned by Alcoa . Brazil is the world's sixth biggest aluminum producer. Following are tables of comparative data for primary aluminum production by Brazilian company for the month of May.
