Abu Dhabi offers investment opportunities in many sectors

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi offers investment opportunities in the fields of aluminium, steel, infrastructure, airports, seaports and railroads, along with petrochemicals and renewable energy, the capital’s chief economic planner told an investors conference in China.


Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development Nasser Ahmed Al Sowaidi Chairman stressed on the strong Economic ties between Abu Dhabi and China, the substantial increase in the trade volumes between the UAE and China, and the strong presence of Chinese companies in Abu Dhabi during the Abu Dhabi and China Economic Forum.


“Rediscovering Abu Dhabi and China opens the door to great opportunities in investment and trade,” Al Sowaidi said.


The Forum, co-organised with the Institutional Investor Conferences, discussed and highlighted the extensive trade and investment opportunities that exist between Abu Dhabi and China.


Business executives from different sectors exchanged views with more than 200 investors from China and other Asian countries.


Al Sowaidi praised the Chinese for their rapid development in science, technology and education, as well as the remarkable achievements in Infrastructure which include energy, transportation and telecommunication.


The forum explored the investment opportunities in the key sectors driving the economic diversification process as stated in the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.


Leading Abu Dhabi corporate leaders made presentations on the investment scene and emerging opportunities in different areas. Those who were present included Waha Capital Chairman Hussein Al Nowais, Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development Deputy Director General Fahad Al Raqbani and ZonesCorp Chief Executive Officer Mohammed H. Al Qamzi.


Others who shed light on Abu Dhabi’s economic and investment growth were Department of Trade Chairman Abdulla Rashid Khalaf Al Otaiba, Abu Dhabi Ports Company Acting CEO Tawfeeq Al Mubarak, National Bank of Abu Dhabi CEO Michael Tomalin, HSBC UAE CEO Abdulfattah Sharaf, Invest AD CEO Nazem Fawwaz Al Kudsi, Advanced Technology Investment Company CEO Ibrahim Ajami, Deloitte & Touche ME Audit Partner Wissam Moukahal and Mubadala CEO and Executive Director for Energy and Industry Maurizio La Noce.
