Alcan Rio Tinto Kitimat aluminum smelter project is expect to go on

Rio Tinto CEO Albanese said on Monday that Alcan new board member will decide before the end of this year if go on the $2b update of Kitimat aluminum smelter. He also said that the strong demand in China has interacted the influence by USA economy sluggish. Albanese said if this project is permitted, it can get full production before 2011. The main hindrance of this smelter: long-term labor contract, environment permit and long-term electricity contract has all solved. Kitimat minister Richard Wozney also expressed want to see this project go on. Alcan has declared on 2006 August that this project will replace another aluminum smelter that was build on 20c 50years.
