Greenland Aluminum Smelter’s Study Moves to Next Stage

Feasibility study of the 340,000tpy smelter in Greenland, Denmark are moving forward to the next stage, as the country’s parliament has approved the location in Maniitsoq. The parliament also approved expenditure for the next study stage that comprises economic, social and environmental aspects, which will be worked with Alcoa. The study is expected to extend through 2009, and parliament may examine the project again next year in light of determining the level of Greenland’s ownership.
