RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. -- Jackson County officials are hoping to lure other companies to land owned by Century Aluminum. Century Aluminum closed its Ravenswood plant in February but still owns 1,200 acres. With Century Aluminum's approval, Jackson County Development Director Mark Whitley says the county development authority has been showing 200-acre tracts to other companies. The tracts have access to the Ohio River, railroads, gas, power, water and sewer. Whitley says some companies may delay development plans because of the economy but the authority will continue to show the property.
