LONDON - Global aluminium production fell to an average 98,200 tonnes a day in March from 100,200 tonnes in February amid a decline in Chinese production, provisional data from the International Aluminium Institute showed.
Excluding China, aluminium production rose on an average daily basis to 67,100 tonnes a day in March from 66,800 tonnes in February.
Global aluminium production for the month, including China, was also up on an annual basis, having averaged just 88,000 tonnes a day in March 2006.
Total production in March rose to 3.045 mln tonnes from 2.806 mln tonnes in February, although the figure was skewed by the fact that the month of March had three more days than February.
In March 2006, total production averaged just 2.728 mln tonnes.
